Fifteen year old Teegan lives on the Tullow Road. A war is raging, and today petrol has run out.
No Petrol, no cars, no friends, no shopping, no chipper, no late night drives; Teegan wants to escape the Tullow Road in a rush of adrenaline. She meets Clara and together they run to find a way out.
Rubbish is co-created with people who live on the Tullow Road, who share the love for where they are growing up. They all hope to move to other places one day, and look back on a childhood full of marvelous people and stories.
Rubbish is a concept by co-directors Maud Hendricks and Bernie O'Reilly and co-created with filmmaker Michael Higgins, performer JJ, sound artist Oli Ryan, and community facilitator Lisa Brooks (Take A Part Carlow) and co-created with a cast of over thirty community performers from the Tullow Road.
This project was commissioned by Take A Part Carlow, with the support of Carlow County Council Arts Office, Carlow Youthreach KCETB, The Arts Council of Ireland and the wider community of The Tullow Road.
Take A Part Carlow is a socially engaged arts initiative led by an Arts Action Group, made up of community representatives from the Tullow Road area along with agency partners including Carlow County Council Arts Office, the community of the Tullow Road, the Arts Council of Ireland, Carlow County Development Partnership and Carlow Regional Youth Services.
